Position Description
The Senior Designer shall be fully proficient in the use of 2D and Plant 3D AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. The individual works with Project Engineers and Project Managers to establish project requirements, prepares detailed drawing packages for shop fabrication and field construction of industrial food production facilities, involving food processing equipment, piping, electrical and general arrangements. Execute Drafting/ Design tasks and carry out independent Design capabilities with limited direction and guidance of more senior members when finalizing deliverables. This person regularly contributes to the overall design effort, and also prepares support documentation for review (such as bill of material and P&IDs). This is a salaried, exempt position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recognized as a go-to team member for technical CAD design solutions and deliverables.
- Demonstrates an ability to “influence” others and/or “direct” others for attainment of organizational Design outputs.
- Active participation of improving processes/ procedures/ best practices via training, education, knowledge share groups (E3), conferences, and/or internal project involvement.
- Check work completed by same/ lower-level resources.
- With minimal support of others, capable of serving as a technical design leader on efforts of all sizes.
- Can assume a lead role for projects and site work as needed.
- Has mastered 2D AutoCAD, and develops mastery of developing intelligent P&IDs, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Revit.
- Has or has a passion to develop a good level of understanding of principles applicable to food and beverage manufacturing.
- Growing knowledge or expertise of 3D scanning capability. This may become an expected go-to capability for certain Senior CAD Designers.
- Growing knowledge or expertise of BIM 360. This may become an expected go-to capability for certain Senior CAD Designers.

- Assist in creating and coordinating Design Standards/Templates for Design Department.
- Document Management standards compliance.
- May be assigned Software Administration and training duties.
As a Designer in general:
- Generate construction drawings based on system layout concepts.
- Reliable team player that builds positive relationships with peers, project teams, suppliers, and the customer. Comfortable in sharing their design perspective and ideas.
- Effectively leverages prior experience, knowledge, and understanding to fit customer application. Actively seeks guidance when needed.
- Review specifications to ensure compliance of designs.
- Understand budget and timeline constraints that influence a task or project.
- Reports project progress to Design Lead and Group Manager.
- Other duties as requested.

- Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.
